PP injection moulding grade – buyer’s guide for Pakistan
Polypropylene is the most versatile injection moulding resin: light, stiff, chemically resistant and cheap to process. Karachi rate lists quote Polypropylene Injection for homopolymer and impact copolymer grades and Polypropylene Random Copolymer for clear grades. The plastic-furniture cluster in Gujranwala and Lahore, household-products factories and food-packaging converters in Karachi are the main buyers.

How to choose
- Impact strength: for chairs, crates and buckets that must survive drops and cold weather, choose an impact copolymer such as 440L.
- Thin walls and fast cycles: for disposable cups, lids and thin-wall food containers, a high-flow grade such as 548R fills long, thin sections.
- Stiffness at low cost: homopolymer HP500M is a good all-round grade for housewares and technical parts.
- Clarity: RP340R is a clarified random copolymer for transparent boxes and containers.
Typical applications in Pakistan
- Plastic chairs, tables and stools
- Thin-wall food containers, cups and lids
- Crates, buckets and storage boxes
- Household and kitchen products
- Caps, closures and technical parts
Processing tips
- Typical melt temperature 200–250 °C and mould temperature 20–60 °C.
- PP shrinks 1.5–2 %; allow for it in the mould design and keep cooling uniform to avoid warpage.
- For furniture, add UV masterbatch for outdoor use and colour masterbatch at 1–2 %.
Market overview
Pakistan’s plastic-furniture industry – centred on Gujranwala, Lahore and Karachi – is one of the largest users of PP injection grades, together with food-packaging and household-products makers. Demand for disposable food containers has grown with food delivery and ready meals. Furniture makers value impact strength and colour consistency, while packaging makers focus on flow and cycle time.
Common PP moulding problems
- Cracked chair legs in winter: switch from homopolymer to an impact copolymer.
- Short shots in thin-wall parts: use a high-flow grade such as 548R.
- Warpage: balance cooling and part thickness; consider a nucleated grade.
- Whitening on bending: typical of homopolymer – use a copolymer for hinges and flexible parts.
Grade notes
PP 548R – PP 548R is a nucleated, antistatic, high-fluidity heterophasic copolymer for thin-wall injection moulding. Items show high stiffness, good impact resistance and excellent antistatic behaviour; excellent mouldability and short cycle times allow high productivity. Suitable for food contact. Key strengths: high fluidity, short cycles, high stiffness, excellent antistatic. In Pakistan it is used for thin-wall food containers, disposable cups, lids and fast-cycle packaging.
PP 440L – PP 440L is a medium-flow heterophasic copolymer with an improved balance of mechanical properties: high stiffness and outstanding low-temperature impact strength for injection moulding. It delivers about 35% higher toughness than conventional copolymers of the same MFR and rigidity. Key strengths: high stiffness, outstanding low-temp impact, ≈ 35% higher toughness. In Pakistan it is used for plastic chairs and tables, crates, buckets and impact-resistant housewares.
PP HP500M – PP HP500M is a polypropylene homopolymer for injection moulding whose good flow properties give easy processing and high-stiffness articles. It is widely used for food containers, housewares, toys and garden furniture, appliance components and automotive parts. Suitable for food contact. Key strengths: good flow, easy processing, high stiffness. In Pakistan it is used for housewares, plastic furniture, caps and general injection parts.
PP RP340R – PP RP340R is a nucleated random copolymer with high fluidity and outstanding transparency and gloss, designed for injection moulding and injection stretch blow moulding. It combines see-through clarity, excellent moisture barrier and hot-fill capability, an effective alternative to PET and PVC. Key strengths: high melt flow, excellent transparency & gloss, hot-fillable. In Pakistan it is used for clear food containers, storage boxes and transparent housewares.
Supply to Pakistan
We ship PP injection grade from Iran in 25 kg bags on pallets (jumbo bags on request). Sea freight goes in 20′ and 40′ containers from Bandar Abbas to Karachi or Port Qasim; inland buyers can also receive trucks via Taftan. The shipping mode, route and Incoterm are agreed for each order, depending on quantity, destination and timing. Every shipment travels with a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the producer datasheet.
