LDPE film grade – buyer’s guide for Pakistan
Low density polyethylene is the classic film resin: soft, clear, easy to seal and very easy to process. In Karachi it trades as LDPE Film. Pakistani converters use it for shrink film, lamination and extrusion-coating layers, bread and garment bags and general packaging film, often blended with LLDPE for extra strength.
Compare LDPE film grades
| Grade | Iranian producers | Melt flow | Density (g/cm³) | Best for | Datasheet |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LDPE 2420H | Amir Kabir | 1.9 190 °C / 2.16 kg | 0.924 | Shrink film, heavy-duty bags, medium-gauge film | TDS PDF |
| LDPE 2119 | Arya Sasol | 1.9 190 °C / 2.16 kg | 0.921 | Clear packaging film, bread bags, lamination | TDS PDF |
How to choose
- Shrink and heavy-duty film: 2420H is additive-free, with good melt strength for 70–220 µm films and shrink sleeves.
- Clarity and thin film: 2119 gives excellent optics and draw-down for thin, clear packaging film.
- Blends: adding 20–40 % LLDPE film grade raises puncture and dart impact while keeping good sealing.
Typical applications in Pakistan
- Shrink film for beverage packs and pallets
- Lamination and extrusion-coating layers
- Bread, garment and courier bags
- Agricultural and greenhouse film (in blends)
- General packaging film and pouches
Processing tips
- Typical melt temperature 160–200 °C; LDPE runs on almost any blown-film line.
- Use a blow-up ratio of 2–3 for balanced shrink in both directions.
- Add slip and anti-block masterbatch for high-speed packaging lines.
Market overview
LDPE is the most common resin for soft packaging film in Pakistan – shrink film for beverage and FMCG multipacks, lamination for snacks and tea, and bags for bakeries and garment shops. Converters often buy LDPE and LLDPE together and blend them to reach the right balance of clarity, sealing and strength. Rates for LDPE usually sit above HDPE film, so blends are also used to control cost.
Common LDPE film problems
- Hazy film: use a clarity grade (2119) and keep the frost line and cooling consistent.
- Weak seals: check sealing temperature and film treatment; LDPE seals over a wide window.
- Uneven shrink: balance the blow-up ratio for equal shrink in both directions.
- Blocking on rolls: add anti-block masterbatch for thin films.
Grade notes
LDPE 2420H – LDPE 2420H is a non-additivated low density polyethylene for blown and cast film. It offers good heat sealing, good optical properties and easy processing for medium-gauge films of 70 – 220 µm: packaging film, bags, pouches and shrink film. Not intended for medical applications. Key strengths: good heat seal, high clarity & gloss, good processability. In Pakistan it is used for shrink film, heavy-duty bags, lamination and medium-gauge packaging film.
LDPE 2119 – LDPE 2119 is a low density polyethylene with excellent optical properties. It offers high output and excellent draw-down and is designed for general-purpose thin films, packaging film and lamination film. Key strengths: excellent optics, high output, excellent draw-down. In Pakistan it is used for clear packaging film, bread and garment bags and lamination film.
Supply to Pakistan
We ship LDPE film grade from Iran in 25 kg bags on pallets (jumbo bags on request). Sea freight goes in 20′ and 40′ containers from Bandar Abbas to Karachi or Port Qasim; inland buyers can also receive trucks via Taftan. The shipping mode, route and Incoterm are agreed for each order, depending on quantity, destination and timing. Every shipment travels with a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the producer datasheet.

Frequently asked questions
Which LDPE grade is best for shrink film?
LDPE 2420H is the usual choice for shrink film and heavy-duty film because of its melt strength and additive-free formulation.
Which LDPE grade gives the clearest film?
LDPE 2119 is designed for excellent optical properties and thin, clear packaging film.
Who produces these grades in Iran?
2420H is produced by Amir Kabir Petrochemical and 2119 (LFI2119) by Arya Sasol Polymer.
Should I blend LDPE with LLDPE?
Yes, for bags and liners that need strength. A 60/40 or 70/30 LDPE/LLDPE blend is common; test on your line to find the best ratio.
